Our Sanctuary Story

Providing safe haven for parrots since 2010

A Home for Feathered Friends in Need

Parrot Sanctuary was founded with a simple mission: to provide a safe, loving environment for parrots who have been abandoned, neglected, or can no longer be cared for by their owners.

Over the years, we've rescued over 500 parrots of various species, from small budgies to large macaws. Each bird receives medical care, proper nutrition, socialization, and enrichment activities.

Our facility spans 5 acres with both indoor and outdoor aviaries, allowing our residents to fly, play, and interact in naturalistic environments.

Parrot Care Guide

Essential information for parrot owners

Nutrition

A balanced diet for parrots includes pellets, fresh fruits, vegetables, and occasional nuts. Avoid avocado, chocolate, caffeine, and high-salt foods.

Housing

Parrots need spacious cages with horizontal bars for climbing. Include perches of varying diameters, toys, and foraging opportunities.

Health

Annual vet checkups are essential. Watch for signs of illness: fluffed feathers, decreased appetite, lethargy, or changes in droppings.

Enrichment

Parrots are highly intelligent and need mental stimulation. Provide puzzle toys, training sessions, and social interaction daily.

Emergency Situations

Poisoning

If you suspect your parrot ingested something toxic, contact an avian vet immediately. Keep the number of an emergency avian clinic handy.

Injury

For bleeding or fractures, gently wrap your parrot in a towel and transport to a vet. Do not attempt to set bones yourself.

Respiratory Distress

If your parrot is breathing with difficulty (tail bobbing, open-mouthed breathing), seek immediate veterinary care.
